Modern Ikebana Workshop


Modern Ikebana merges traditional Japanese craft with Western love for abundance and fulfillment. This workshop uses local, fresh and untreated flowers. It emphasizes finding balance in the visual structure of floral art through mindful selection and intuitive placement, letting go of rigid structures. Each chosen flower adds a new dimension, fostering creativity and building connections.

Additional information

  • Start Saturday workshop at 11:00 until ca. 14:00/14:30
    Start Sunday workshop at 12 until ca. 15:00/15:30
  • Please arrive 15 minutes in advance
  • For all levels: total beginners to passionate gardeners
  • All equipment is provided.  Bring a notepad and pen if you'd like to make notes
  • Tea & water are provided throughout the workshop, you may bring your snacks
  • Main workshop language is German, English on demand
  • Flowers for the workshop will be harvest in the morning, meaning that a prediction of which varieties will join us is not possible. we hope for Cosmea, Dahlia and many other beauties. 
  • We have a photographer that will attend the workshop to document your journey with us, if you do not want to be in any photos, please let us know
  • All flowers are local, seasonal & sustainable, fresh from Violas garden

Who we are?

Nata Pestune 

maker and designer behind studio MAALS.


Creating tableware since 2014 using traditional techniques of throwing on a potters wheel, she focuses on simplicity, puristic designs and aesthetics of the object.

Viola Lüdemann 

creator of von.flowers, member of Slowflower Bewegung e.V.


Living in the old family estate and taking care of generational grounds, she shares huge passion for cut flowers through beautiful bouquets, natural dyeing and teaching. The love for flowers, their abundance, slowness and calming character is what moves Viola.

Where?

Our Ikebana workshop will take place in a beautiful and spacious pottery studio of Nata, in the Koppel 66. Located in the st. Georg, middle of Hamburg, in an old machine factory – it will become a perfect place for you to explore art of arranging flowers in between of handmade pottery, creative and aesthetic atmosphere.
